Kent Williams
How long had it been since he'd really flirted? Sure he took girls home with him, mostly one night stands and the like, but really flirted? Probably a few months at the least. He was thoroughly enjoying himself though. He turned to the bartender for a moment. "Rum and Coke this time." He said before refocusing on Reese.
Were you self taught or did your dad show you the ropes starting out?" Hah. His father, whoever that was. Mr. Williams wasn't big on fixing cars, much more in to classical music things. Nope, it had all been Marcel. "He was more of an uncle you could say. Marcel taught me everything I know and then some. He passed away quite a few years ago though, left the whole business to me." Kent smiled slightly at the thought of the old man's face. It was sad towards the end, seeing him go. In reality, Kent thought Marcel was more of a father to him.
Kent shook his head, he didn't want to dwell on it, instead he commented about her and her friends, which earned him a smirk. "Oh? Does this mean you were watching me then?" He picked up his new drink and sipped it, glancing her over again. "Well, how could I not? You're the prettiest thing out there tonight." It wasn't really a lie. She was definitely better looking then most of the girls he'd seen tonight.
"Thank you. Dance means a lot to me. There's nothing I'd rather do...just like I'm sure there is nothing you'd rather do more than work with cars."
"Spot on ballerina. I'd never want to do anything else." Well except race them, but that all falls under the same category. He thought to himself. "Yo, Kent! That was crazy out there tonight. You really showed that city slicker who owns these streets." A man suddenly appeared behind Kent and slapped him on the back. He was a little taller then Kent and a bit bulkier.
Kent coughed and set down the glass, passing Reese a sheepish smile before looking to then man and rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I did...but we can talk later about it ya know..." And then the man noticed Reese. "Oh jeeze. Sorry man. I'll call ya later and we'll talk." Once he was gone Kent looked to Reese again. "So! How long have you been dancing for?" acting like that incident hadn't just happened.

She couldn't resist flirting just a bit. She gently teased, asking if the fact that he had noticed her and her friends meant that he had been watching her before now. "Well, how could I not? You're the prettiest thing out there tonight." he said as he looked her over once more, taking another drink.
She bit her lip as she smiled now, shaking her head with a little giggle. "Well, you certainly are a charmer, for sure," she said, tucking some of her choppy short dark hair behind her ear.
They talked about their careers and how neither of them wanted to do anything other than what they did now. "Spot on ballerina. I'd never want to do anything else."
She nodded in agreement, but before she could say anything else on the subject, a guy up behind Kent, slapping him on the back. "Yo, Kent! That was crazy out there tonight. You really showed that city slicker who owns these streets."
Kent seemed to choke a little on his drink and coughed before giving her an apologetic smile. "Yeah, I did...but we can talk later about it ya know..." he told the guy who looked at her now as though just noticing her there.
"Oh jeeze. Sorry man. I'll call ya later and we'll talk." he said quickly before hurrying away.
"So! How long have you been dancing for?" Kent said, trying to act as though nothing had happened.
A small smile crept to her lips and looked at him. "Oh no," she said, shaking her head with a little bit of a laugh. "You are not about to pretend that didn't just happen! What was that about?...if you don't mind me asking." She was incredibly curious now and couple help but wonder if Kent was involved in something similar to Santiago. She still wasn't entirely sure what that entailed, but she knew it wasn't good.

Kent Williams
Kent tried to change the subject, and failed miserably. He knew it would be impossible after the way Jacob just waltzed up like that. Damn it, Jake...nearly was able to make it through this night without letting one more person know. He thought, but he put on another smile. Reese didn't seem like the type of girl to just run off and tell the cops anything anyways. Heck, it wouldn't be too bad a sight to watch her cheering...okay he really had to stop thinking like that.
"Oh no. You are not about to pretend that didn't just happen! What was that about?...If you don't mind me asking." She was grinning, knowing she had him caught. Kent mentally kicked himself again and took another drink. It's not like he was embarrassed or ashamed, of course he wasn't. The thing was, you just didn't go around telling people you did illegal street racing on the side. You never knew whowas hanging around.
"Well, that guy there was Jacob. He...works at the garage, detailing and all that." He started and did a quick glance around before sighing a bit. "He's just all excited because the blue Mustang I won tonight is all his to work on." Kent said it so casually you'd think 'winning' cars was something he did every day...which wasn't a total lie. At least once or twice a month he had a new car in his collection. Well she was going to want a better explanation, Kent knew that much.
"I don't just work on cars, I race 'em. Not normal car racing, street racing. Tonight, some guy from the States, who wouldn't know a street car if it kicked him in the *ss, got in my face and claimed he could out race me any day at any time. I told him that if he won he could have my car, but if I won I took his...and we all know how that ended." Suddenly he smiled again, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. "I swore I thought the guy was going to break down and cry right then and there."

She wasn't quite sure what was going on. All she knew was that Kent appeared to be hiding something and she was very curious to know what it was. They had only just started to get to know one another and she certainly didn't want to seem like she was digging too much into his personal life. But they guy who had approached just a moment ago hadn't left too much to the imagination. He'd made it pretty obvious that something was going on, she gave Kent an out if he didn't want to talk about it.
He took another drink before he spoke. "Well, that guy there was Jacob. He...works at the garage, detailing and all that." he explained and she nodded in understanding. She was following so far. "He's just all excited because the blue Mustang I won tonight is all his to work on."
Wait...won? As in 'had a competition with someone else to have'? She'd only ever heard of that kind of thing happening in races.
"I don't just work on cars, I race 'em. Not normal car racing, street racing. Tonight, some guy from the States, who wouldn't know a street car if it kicked him in the *ss, got in my face and claimed he could out race me any day at any time. I told him that if he won he could have my car, but if I won I took his...and we all know how that ended." he explained, confirming her suspicions as she listened with rapt attention. "I swore I thought the guy was going to break down and cry right then and there."
She bit her lip to keep from laughing. "You took the poor guys car! Of course he's going to cry," she said, giggling a little, obviously amused as well. "He probably should have known better though." She looked at with wide eyes, shaking her head. "Street racing. Really?" she said, a little astounded. "Isn't that kind of illegal? And dangerous? How often do you race?"

"I don't really like telling people what I really do on the first day, you know? Jacob just really didn't give me a choice..." Kent chuckled softly. "You took the poor guys car! Of course he's going to cry. He probably should've known better though." Reese told him, attempting to hold back a laugh.
"He should have...I've been racing 'professionally' since I was eighteen. That guy, not even a full year." Kent knew the guy had to have raced at least once or twice because the car he used had been modified, and to survive at all in a race, unless everyone was using unmodified cars, there was no other way you were winning except with modifications- and it took years to perfect how the modifications worked together. Then Reese asked, "Isn't that kind of illegal? And dangerous?"
His eyes twinkled again and a smirk graced his lips. "Illegal six ways from Sunday, and dangerous as hell, ballerina. That's why we only race real late and on the deserted roads-or try to. We like our fun, but we don't want any civilians getting caught up with it because they were in the wrong place as the wrong time and all." They may be classified 'criminals' but they weren't going to hurt anyone doing it.
"How often do you race?" It was a common question that Kent got asked a lot, and he wouldn't lie. "I race at least six or seven times a month, two of them racing for pink slips- which is how that guy lost his car tonight," and Kent still had one more pink slip race to go, but he always waited from people to approach him unless he thought them 'worthy'. It was an image he had to keep up, and it always amused him when know-nothings challenged him...even after seeing how badly others like them had lost.

Reese had only ever seen street racing in movies. She'd heard little about it too. All she really knew was that that it was dangerous and illegal. she found it completely fascinating that Kent did it though. Somehow it made him even more attractive. Still she was quite curious and she asked him about it, wondering if it was really as dangerous and scary as the movies made it seem.
"Illegal six ways from Sunday, and dangerous as hell, ballerina. That's why we only race real late and on the deserted roads-or try to. We like our fun, but we don't want any civilians getting caught up with it because they were in the wrong place as the wrong time and all." he explained. She gave a pleased little smile. She was glad to know that he wasn't going to be putting innocent bystanders at risk.
"I race at least six or seven times a month, two of them racing for pink slips- which is how that guy lost his car tonight," replied when she asked how often he raced. She nodded in understanding.
She gave a bright smile, leaning her chin in her hand she met his gaze. "You know, I can't really say I know a lot about races like that," she admitted with a little giggle. "I may have to come see one some time. From the way you talk about it that sounds like where your real passion is." She smiled at him. "Tell you what...I'll come see you race if you come see me dance. Deal?"

Kent noted that Reese had a nice smile and pretty eyes. Really, she was a pretty young woman all in all. He studied her a moment before she spoke. "You know, I can't really say I know a lot about races like that. I may have to come see one sometime. From the way you talk about it, that sounds like where your real passion is." Another smile. "Tell you what...I'll come see you race if you some see me dance. Deal?"
Well how could he turn down an offer like that. "Well Reese, I'd be honored, and pretty happy, if you came to watch me race. In fact, I'll even personally let you know when the next one is as soon as I know my self." He flashed her a smile in return. "As for watching you dance...well it's only fair right? I don't know much about dancing myself...but I'm sure it'd be nice to see you." He mused.
"As for where my real passion is...you're right. If street racing were legal that's what I'd be doing full time." He took out his cellphone and clicked a few things before handing it to her. "Give me your number and I'll give you mine." He'd never had someone other than his boys really cheering for me, and they only really cheered because he was the reason they made any money at all.

"Well Reese, I'd be honored, and pretty happy, if you came to watch me race. In fact, I'll even personally let you know when the next one is as soon as I know my self." he assured her with a charming smile. As for watching you dance...well it's only fair right? I don't know much about dancing myself...but I'm sure it'd be nice to see you."
Reese bit her lip as she grinned at him, blushing just a bit. She made a mental note to see about getting him a ticket for the next performance that would be coming up in a couple of weeks. She had briefly mentioned earlier that street racing seemed to be where his real passion was. She could hear in the way he spoke about it and see the way his blue eyes lit up at the mention of it. And a guy with passion for something was always attractive.
"As for where my real passion is...you're right. If street racing were legal that's what I'd be doing full time." he told her and she nodded in understanding. It was hard to really display your love of something when that something happened to be illegal.
She watched Kent pull out his phone, messing with it a bit before handing it over to her. "Give me your number and I'll give you mine." he told her.
She nodded in agreement and quickly pulled her own phone out, getting it to the contact screen for him to type his number in. She handed her phone over and took his, swapping them. She typed in her number before they swapped them back. As she got her phone back, she got a message from one of her friends asking where she was as they were ready to go. She pouted a bit.
"I'm sorry. Looks like my friends are ready to leave. I should be getting back," she told Kent. Her usual smile flickered back to her lips. "It was really great talking to you...and thanks again for the drink...and for saving me." She hopped off the bar stool and placed a hand to his arm. "Don't forget to me let me know about the race. I'm looking forward to it." With one last beaming smile she turned and hurried off to find her friends.
