Le Silencieux Tucked away in a back alley off the Rue St. Denis, Le Silencieux is adequately named. The bar has a musty smell and an eerie silence that hangs over it. The barman is not a friendly spirit, but rather a sallow-skinned and quiet man with watchful eyes. He's seen a lot of riff-raff come in and out of this place. Nothing surprises him anymore, but if you're a naive soul, be prepared to be shell shocked by the characters you're likely to meet here.

Le Utilisee Pawn shops may be outlawed in France, but that doesn't mean some thrift and vintage shops don't do a little shady business on the side. If you're looking for a one of a kind wardrobe piece, the front of Le Utilisée will have everything you could want. But if your tastes are a little darker-- and you know somebody who can get you in-- you'll want to take a look around the back room. Hôtel Roche Savvy tourists avoid the Hôtel Roche, despite its low, by the hour rates. Savvy locals know that the hotel-- for all its dilapidation-- is the best place to go if you don't want any questions asked. There is a bare-bones bar on the first level that smells faintly of mold. The rooms, with their hard beds and poor lighting, feature views of tenement walls. Still, the out-of-the-way nature of Hôtel Roche makes it perversely attractive to some... Sub-board: Archives |
