Character: Georgette Duguay
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Occupation: Coroner
AI: Emmy Rossum
Personality: Georgette will have you know, first and foremost, that she is a woman, working in a man’s world. She’s incredibly smart and biting. She has to be. She is, after all, the only female coroner at the hospital (and the best at it, thank you very much). From her years of being a spoiled only-child, she never takes “no” as an answer and knows from her training that there is always a logical explanation. But that’s not to say she’s always serious. Even Georgette, despite being devoted to her job, is not afraid of having fun.
History: Georgette was born in Versailles, France, the only child to Marion, a cardiologist who worked at her own private practice, and Albert, a mortician. Her mother was frequently at work, often having to drop everything and run to the hospital. So Georgette became incredibly close to her father, who often took her to work with her. She can remember often times asking “What happened, Papa? What happened to him?” and her father would make up some elaborate tale about how the cadaver had been in a sword fight to save the woman he loved or some other such fascinating drivel. But the truth was, he never really knew. Even still, though, there is that little girl still in her that holds out for the corpse that comes in, cause of death: a sword through the heart while defending the woman he loved.
Georgette lived a very quiet, but high societal life. Though her family was small (consisting only of her, her parents, and Spalding, her golden retriever) and wealthy, they hardly flaunted that wealth, but lavished Georgette with gifts out of love and ability to do so. Georgette was lucky. She never had to know hunger or loss or negative feelings at all, really. That was, until she was fourteen and her parents divorced. She had to make a choice—who to live with. There was her beautiful and intelligent but uncatchable mother, whose feet were always sore and attention was always had by something at work. There was her father, who was her best friend, but lived in an almost fantastical land and reality was hard to touch on for him. The choice seemed easy enough to make. Move in with her father and Spalding, see her mother on weekends. But it wasn’t quite so simple. After the divorce, her mother married a middle-class plumber with three kids and two other marriages under his work belt. She worked less and became the mother to these children that she never really was to Georgette. She was a constant presence in their lives, but only in hers two days a week. However, this wasn’t necessarily a bad change. When they were together, her mother was active and loving and still sent frequent gifts when they were apart. And her relationship with her father continued to thrive. He married a nice woman, who ran a pet washing business (hence why Spalding was much cleaner for a whole year and a half). This woman, Noemi, became her stepmother, whom she likes very much.
And then the time came for Georgette to pick a profession, a life, an education. And of course, in search for that man, run through with a sword to protect his bride, she became a coroner.
