Linnea Hepworth
For someone who had only been working there for a few days, the brunette found she adapted to the lifestyle quickly. Linnea had a knack for that, going very much with the flow of things. Her shoes though, were killing her, considering she'd been on her feet for a considerable amount of time, setting tables and waiting on customers. She longed to sit down for even a moment to rest her aching feet, but as always, duty calls. And if that wasn't enough, some of the male patrons were eyeing her like a piece of meat. Usually, she dealt with their innuendos lightly, shutting them down with a saucy smile and a sassy reply, but tonight, it just aggravated her and made her want to fire off some rather snide remarks of her own. Linnea was badly in need of coffee, and she had a feeling this was going to be a very long night.

Ashton Greene
Ashton settled herself down at the table. It was a masochistic visit. She missed dancing, missed being on that Rouge stage. She missed her old body, fit and slim, and the sweet, sweaty feel of the alcohol tainted air. She used to hate it here, showing her body to make a living. But now, as she visited again, she longed for the glitter, the lipstick, the feathers, the leather, and the art. Afterall, you never know what you have until it's gone. Ashton was brought a complimentary water and the played with the straw absently, glancing around, soaking what was familiar, what was new, what was exciting.
A woman, a waitress, frantic looking raced around the dining room. Ashton had never seen her before, so she had to be new. "Come here, love," she said, patting the seat beside her. "Sit down. You look like you need it." Ashton waved a careless hand "Don't worry about them. =hey're fine. They have a show. You need a break." Ashton smiled. "You're new and..." Ashton stopped herself. "I'm talking too much."

Linnea Hepworth
Linnea rolled her eyes as she walked away after bringing meals to a few snooty patrons. She was seriously considering clocking out early and going home due to the migraine she felt coming on. A blonde woman suddenly spoke as she was passing.
"Come here, love," she said, patting the seat beside her. Linnea turned to her, opening her mouth to politely decline, but the woman spoke again. "Sit down. You look like you need it. Don't worry about them. They're fine. They have a show. You need a break." she said with a smile. Linnea looked around, before shrugging.
"I s'pose I could spare a moment," she concluded, her thick London accent tinging her voice. Tucking her serving tray under her arm, she stepped forward and took a seat near the woman.
"You're new and..... I'm talking too much." she said, and Linnea laughed, shaking her head.
"That's quite all right, Miss. But, as you've stated, I'm new. It's not so bad, but tonight is a smidge tiresome." She concluded, smoothing out a few wrinkles in her uniform. "The name's Linnea, by the way. You got a name, Miss?" she asked with a friendly smile.

"I s'pose I could spare a moment," the brunette said and Ashton smiled, happy to not be so alone in her former work place.
"That's quite all right, Miss. But, as you've stated, I'm new. It's not so bad, but tonight is a smidge tiresome. The name's Linnea, by the way. You got a name, Miss?"
Ashton nodded. "Yes. I do." There was a moment of silence. "Oh! You want it? I'm Ashton. It's nice meeting you" There was something funny about Linnea's voice. Not the side-splitting humour of a slap-stick comedy, nor was it the funny like the the smell of day old fish. It was familiar. It was comforting. Her accent was Ashton's accent.
"Are you from London?" Ashton asked. "You sound it. I ask because I am, too." Ashton had a thought. A terrifying thought. Did Linnea recognise her from the cover of the tabloids? Did Linnea store her money in her father's bank? Did she, like the rest of the starry-eyed, gossip obsessed portion of the nation keep up with her's and Damien's engagement?
Change of topic.
"When did you start working here?"

Linnea Hepworth
When Linnea asked about a name, the blonde nodded. "Yes. I do.... Oh! You want it? I'm Ashton. It's nice meeting you" she said, making Linnea laugh.
"It's good meeting you too, Ashton," she told her with a grin. Ashton's accent sent a twinge of familiarity through Linnea, and she was about to ask, but the blonde beat her to it.
"Are you from London? You sound it. I ask because I am, too," Ashton said, and Linnea nodded. She thought Ashton sounded familiar. Her face struck her too, realizing she'd seen it on the cover of a few British tabloids, but Linnea didn't ever keep track of any of that gossiping nonsense. Honestly, some people needed to get a different hobby instead of nosing into other people's lives.
"Actually, yes. I am from London. It's good to meet a fellow Brit 'round these parts. Have you been here long?" she asked her curiously.
Ashton soon turned the conversation to Linnea again with the next question. "When did you start working here?" she asked, and Linnea shrugged.
"I started just a few days ago. It's been all right. Don't think I'd ever be brave enough to do anything here besides busing tables though. 'Sides, I've got two left feet anyway," she said with a laugh. "So what brings you to the Rouge? Are you meeting someone here?"

Ashton was pleased that she, the topic of discussion amongst the wagging tongues; the victim of mostly true, not-too-flattering stories had made a fellow Londoner laugh without being the joke.
"I started just a few days ago. It's been all right. Don't think I'd ever be brave enough to do anything here besides busing tables though. 'Sides, I've got two left feet anyway. So what brings you to the Rouge? Are you meeting someone here?"
Ashton smiled. She would never understand that shy, stage frightened mentality. Ashton was born to entertain, to be watched and adored. She couldn't sit idly by and fix drinks.
"No, no, no. I'm here to watch so I can go home later and cry my eyes out." Ashton didn't realise how serious her voice sounded. "I'm kidding. I used to work here. Since December, but now that I'm a whale," Ashton motioned to her pregnant stomach, "I can only watch. Which is incredibly masochistic of me since I miss it immensely..." she took a long swig of her water to keep herself from talking.

Linnea Hepworth
Ashton smiled at her, making Linnea smile back, guessing she was probably thinking about how silly she must have sounded with her claims to stage fright. It was true though. She was positive she really didn't have the stomach for getting up on a stage and dancing half naked in front of... well, anyone. She may not have had the greatest upbringing in the world, but she wasn't entirely without standards, not that she had anything against anyone whose standards were different. To each her own, she supposed.
"No, no, no. I'm here to watch so I can go home later and cry my eyes out... I'm kidding. I used to work here. Since December, but now that I'm a whale," Ashton said, motioning to her obvious pregnancy. "I can only watch. Which is incredibly masochistic of me since I miss it immensely..." she finished, before taking a long drink of her water. Linnea mused thoughtfully.
"True... I could see how that would make you want to cry your eyes out afterward," she teased lightly. "Well, look at the bright side. Soon you'll have a little darling to help you feel better... if you don't mind me saying, that is," Linnea finished, hoping she hadn't offended Ashton by her statement.

Ashton smiled. "Do I mind? No! Not at all! Lucian-- my boyfriend--" Ashton clarified, " and I are so excited. We're having a boy, and I'm sure after he'd born, I'll go back to work. I have to loose the baby weight somehow right? Why not give myself and incentive?"
Ashton loved to talk about her life with Lucian. They no longer had to pretend to be nothing but friends; they no longer had to hide away in their home, stealing moments together, feeling their time together ticking away. Ashton wanted to talk candidly about it with the world. She wanted to brag, to show off-- because that had been taken away from them for so long. And fortunately, Ashton had this woman to do just that with.
