Your Character’s Name: Elizabeth "Liz" Dixon
Your Character’s Age: 50
Your Character’s Gender: Female
Occupation: Owner of the Sugarplum Bakery
Physical Description: Liz is a woman of about average height, standing at 5'7" and sports a short shock of blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She has a love for looking fantastic and so is always dressed to the occasion. She's known for wearing men's clothes from dress shoes to vests, for no other reason than because they look great. Even though she bears a few signs of her age she manages to ooze an essence that explains how young at heart she is.
Personality: Two words that describe Liz are self-assured and vivacious. She does her best everyday to enjoy everything that life has to offer, to smile and to make others smile. She is an extremely caring person, doing anything that she can for anyone in need. She would never hurt anyone intentionally and is extremely protective of those she cares for. Granted, she falls in love easily so she's protective of a lot of people.
On the downside she is prone to spells of depression, and anger. She doesn't always understand the way people operate, particularly those with cruel intentions. She is scared to death of making the wrong decisions but she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to take it.
History: Liz was born to a typical middle class American family in Louisiana with no idea that she would end up in Paris. She enjoyed a typical childhood with her younger brother during which they received almost everything they could have wanted without having to work for a penny of it and had the privilege of both their parents' affection. Unfortunately, the perfection could only last for so long.
During her teen years, Liz's parents began to fight, her dad eventually left and Liz was left to pick up all the pieces. Following her father's abandonment of the family her mother's health began to fall down hill to breast cancer. Once again, Liz was left to handle the mess. She had to keep the family together as best she could, take care of her mother, make sure her brother did well in school and all while she began to struggle with the realization that she had absolutely no interest in men as anything but friends.
As she continued to bumble along through her teen years, Liz became more and more comfortable with her sexuality and, by extension, with herself. Her mother was on the road to recovery, her brother was doing the best he had been doing in school in his entire life and Liz decided that maybe it was a good time to come out of the closet. Bad idea. Liz's mother, being a deeply Christian woman, did not agree with Liz's choices in terms of sexual preferences and nearly disowned Liz before realizing that maybe, just maybe her daughter was still a heaven bound human being. On top of all that, her father made a reappearance and decided that maybe it was time to be part of his childrens' lives after all.
Through her early 20's Liz thrived in college, chasing down a degree in theatre while taking the opportunity to appear in commercials and some small TV spots. Her acting career continued on this path for quite a while as Liz barely made ends meet in following her dream. At 35 she finally decided that there had to be some other source of income and so she opened a small print shop, printing custom merchandise for everyone from moms wanting monograms to large corporations. Within five years Liz became bored with her business and decided to move on to new things.
Having grown up in Louisiana and being surrounded by French culture throughout her childhood, Liz decided she would chase that culture to it's root and make her way to Paris. She decided to open a bakery that would be as overtly American as possible in order to cater to the common love of all things American by foreigners. Liz would remain the sole owner for 10 years and beyond.
At 50 years old, Liz now finds herself in a place where she is financially stable and looks back to her dream of having her face broadcast across the world. However, she struggles with the idea of leaving Paris and her business. The opportunity would have to be just right.
After years of coming and going girlfriends and lovers, Liz also feels like she could stand to settle down. She longs for that stable relationship where no one has to hide or be afraid of what people might think. What better place than Paris?
