Character: Simone Perry
Age:26
Gender: Female
Occupation: Ex-soprano, now Music Director
Height: 5'7.5
AI: Drew Barrymore
Appearance: Simone stands at about 5'7, with a curvaceous figure that she dresses to emphasize. Her reddish gold hair usually hangs in waves down to her shoulders, or else straightened. Mischievous emerald green eyes glitter and squint above a charming, unique smile that hints at a playful smirk naturally.
Personality: Simone is slightly withdrawn and shy at first, which can be construed as aloof or arrogant. Trouble is, she IS arrogant, so sometimes it's hard to clearly tell when it's intentional or not. Has a bad temper, and flies off the handle on regular occasion over seemingly insignificant things, but despite this is willing to admit when she has been wrong. Easily irritated and extremely moody. Definitely one of the more flirtatious girls that you will meet. She has several different sides to her: the most prominent being her extroverted, flirty and cute side, the second being her more serious, thoughtful side, and the third (only on occasion) being her dark, sadistic side. Simone likes to appear as though she isn't particularly smart-although this plan fails when she is engaged in intellectual conversation--because then it gives her the chance to prove that, behind the mask of nonchalance and fluffiness, that she does indeed have a brain. Tends to feel one extreme or the other in everything in her life. Loves with all her heart and soul, which has the potential to blindside her. Fights to protect those she loves. Strong-willed. Fiercely loyal once her trust has been earned. Lives life to the fullest, because there is only today.
History: British by blood and British by nature, she has spent the majority of her life in England, with her well-to-do family of seven. She grew up in Liverpool, but moved to London when she was ten years old, so her accent only has the barest trace of her beginnings. Educated at the best schools and given the best opportunities, she still felt estranged from her siblings due to the fact that she was their half-sister, the consequence of marital unfaithfulness. She never knew who her other family was, and no matter how much she begged, pleaded or nagged, her mother refused to give up the name of Simone's father. Finally, she resigned herself to the fact that she would probably never know them, and consequently put them out of her mind for the time being. Her brothers and their friends loved to torment her with the fact that she was not truly their sister along with her tendency toward chubbiness which, even years later, affects the way she views herself and the manner in which she responds to certain types of teasing.
She studied music at the Royal Academy of Music, and graduated with a degree in vocal performance. Wishing to put a little more distance between herself and her family, she applied for and received the job of understudy to the leading soprano at the Opera Populaire in Paris, and departed from England at 23 without a glance behind her.
In Paris, she happened upon a very nice young American man who became like the older brother she never had: loving and kind, protective and sweet. One bizarre turn of events later, they discovered that they were, in fact, half-siblings. Simone had found the family she had never known. To make up for lost time, she and her brother (Rafael Lamaroux) fight and squabble like teenagers, but love each other as dearly as anything.
The affair that created her was the root of many bad feelings in her family, most of them directed at her. However, her father accepted her even though she was not his child and always treated her with fondness and respect, the only positive male attention she recieved in her childhood. This was cut short by his untimely demise when she was 24, and the ensuing war over his estate created larger rifts between Simone and her brothers (their mother was quite useless). Eventually, they agreed to go their separate ways, and she has not heard from or attempted to contact them to this day, and probably never will.
Back in France, failed romances over a period of several months caused the redhead to flee Paris for two years, during which time all communication between her and any friends or family completely ceased without any warning. Only the people involved in her life during that time know what happened, which was this: After leaving Paris, Simone decided to try her luck at the Sydney Opera House, and landed Down Under with high hopes of what she hoped would be a new life. But, as always happens, her plans did not turn out as planned.
Firstly, she met a man. Was this a good thing? It could have been, had he been the kind of man you want to meet. Unfortunately, as Simone would later discover too late, he was a heartless, cruel man, who ended up taking everything from her. He approached her with the idea of training her, and, being as young and in need of vocal coaching as she was, agreed. After all, he was handsome and charming and apparently concerned for her well-being.
To make an otherwise long and painful story short, this man tricked Simone into falling in love with him, married her, and ruined her voice by forcing her to sing beyond her capability. Adding insult to injury--or injury to insult--he was physically abusive, broke several of her bones and gave her more than a few colorful bruises during their short marriage.
Simone ended up being immensely glad for her willpower, because it was this that allowed her to break free of his hold and end the hell she was caught in. He was arrested and put away for several years, and she enrolled in therapy sessions. It took almost a year and a half, but she has healed considerably and is back to what would be deemed 'her normal, bubbly self'.
Now, a much wiser redheaded Brit has returned to the Opera House in a different capacity to rebuild her life from the shambles that are left with help from her brother. She still has nightmares about her ex-husband finding her, but being back in Paris has eased the vividness of them somehow. Some days are harder than others, and she now struggles with bouts of depression, but hopes for a second chance at happiness...someday.
