Name: Charlotte Babineaux
Age: 36
Occupation: Psychology Teacher
AI: Julianne Moore
History: Charlotte grew up in Toulouse, France. Born to Marguite and Michel Babineaux, Charlotte was an athletic, studious girl who took in all the knowledge she could and preferred soccer balls to barbie dolls. In fact, the only things she collected more than books were band aids to cover up the scrapes she got from roughing about with the boys. Charlotte was a happy child: wild and carefree. That was until she was 8 and her parents were in a car accident on their way to pick her up from school. Her father died on impact, and her mother, after 6 months, was taken off Life-support. Charlotte moved in with her grandmother, a conservative traditional woman. Charlotte was no longer allowed to play sports, had to wear shoes, and had to call her grandma 'ma'am'. Her grandmother wasn't all bad. She could actually be quite wonderful with her large amount of land and many books. Charlotte could live with the dresses, the expectations, the rules... it was the opinions she couldn't cope with; especially her opinions on homosexuality.
Charlotte realized she was a lesbian when she was 13. It came to ligjht when she fancied her science teacher. Having grown up thinking it was wrong, she kept it hidden save for a love letter she wrote her teacher. Her teacher found it accidently stuck to a homework papaer and assumed it was from the boy whose paper was beneath Charlotte's. Fortunately, the letter was good naturedly thrown away. Needless to say, nothing but a deep love for science came of this crush.
Charlotte grew to be an attractive young woman and was often asked on dates by male classmates, fellow science club members, and dashing athletes alike. She turned them all down, garnering her the reputation of a cold hearted b*tch, but her grandmother was excited by this, glad Charlotte found more joy in school than in boys. But that didn't mean Charlotte didn't rebel. She rode her motorcycle to school (which she kept at her friend’s house so her grandmother didn't know). In a mad attempt to keep the closet doors closed, she "over compensated" for her sexuality (especially since she wouldn't "go steady" with anyone) and even made out with her male History teacher. To this day she hates history and it was the only class she ever failed. She excelled, though, in science and math, but found her interests were piqued in Psychology. She planned to pursue it university, but her grandmother, old and ill, insisted she become a medical doctor and made it her dying wish to see her in med-school and married. To honour this wish, she married a friend she met in medical school, but kept her last name (something her grandmother saw as one last act of rebellion). It was a terrible marriage: unhappy, forced, boring. Her husband began seeing other women… and so did she. But to her grandmother, she was happy, finishing up her thesis, and far too busy for children. When her grandmother died, she divorced her husband and went back to school, this time, pursuing her passion for Psychology. Upon graduating, she began teaching fulltime, having less time for dating. That’s not to say she didn’t date from time to time, it just wasn’t her first priority. And for the first time, she was truly happy.
Other: Her ex-husband and her would have remained on good terms if it hadn’t of been for the nature of their divorce. She and her husband did, within their first year of marriage, get pregnant. Not wanting kids, and not wanting to bring one up amid a stagnant marriage of convenience (or alone), she got an abortion, something she never told her husband about until he, being a doctor, read her medical file a few years later. Needless to say, he was angry. This was when tensions first began to rise and the affairs (on both ends) started. Things got especially heated when Charlotte’s girlfriend, in an attempt to keep their affair interesting, proposed a threesome. She was shocked, however, to find that playing doctor involved a real doctor—Charlotte’s husband. At first, things were awkward between Charlotte and her husband, but they eventually found the humour in it over coffee once they divorced. They speak on occasion, but see each other rarely.
