Name: Solange De Grace
Age: 22
Birthday: May 15th
Gender: Female
Occupation: Partner at Vidal Funeral Parlour and Crematorium
Physical Description: Solange is someone you cannot ignore. She makes a bold statement with icy blue eyes that are usually rimmed in black and jet back that tumbles just past her shoulders. Bright red lipstick is her usual and she tends to dress smartly, also usually in black. She stands tall at 5"9...5"11 in heels with a slender, but curvy build. The slight curve to her lips gives the impression that most everything amuses her, especially with a quirk of her low set brow.
AI: Eva Green
Personality: It is not every goth's dream to work in a funeral parlor, thank you very much, and Solange outgrew that stage of her life a while back. Always ready with a sharp tongue and quick wit. She is quite clever and sarcastic, her way of dealing with a job that someone of her education shouldn't have. Still, she is warm and gentle to the grieving families that come through the funeral parlor, showing a flicker of how fiercely devoted she is to the people she cares about.
History: Solange's mother Lea De Grace was a very troubled young woman. She was involved with numerous drugs and eventually dropped out of school. She became pregnant with Solange when she was 16 years old and actually cleaned up her act for the 9 months she carried. But as soon as Solange was born, she was back to her old ways. Eventually she left the infant Solange with her parents Jacqueline and Arthur, running away from home and disappearing for nearly a year. It was only then that Jacqueline and Aurthur were informed Lea's body had been found...she had died of an overdose of heroin.
Solange was raised by her grandparents in Paris, France and in a way they viewed her as a sort of second chance at raising their daughter. They seemed to be doing quite well at it as well. Solange received top marks all through school and made her grandparents proud by getting tons of awards for various Spelling Bees and Science projects and when she got older, for things like Model UN and essay competitions.
That was Solange's secret passion...writing. But not journalism type writing...creative writing. It soon became her dream to be novelist and write tons of works of fiction. When she told her grandparents they were more than supportive, paying for her to take special creative writing courses and always willing to read her short stories that she would submit to the local paper.
...And then when Solange was 17, her grandfather suffered a heart attack and passed away in the hospital a few hours later.
Solange was devastated. Her grandfather had meant the world to her and his sudden loss hit her hard. Hurting deeply, she turned not to her grandmother but to her friends at school. Over the years she had grown close with the typical "goth" crowd but now she fell in with them even more. She wore the heavy eye make-up and all black clothes. She also began to dabble in drugs as well. Cocaine was her drug of choice, but wasn't until her grandmother came to her in tears one night, crying about she was going to lose her just like she had lost Lea, that Solange began to see how far she had fallen.
By the time she was 19 she had left the goth days behind her (though still kept a couple aspects of the bold look) and moved on to attend Cambridge. She graduated a few years later, but before she could even consider finding a career she began to notice her grandmother's ailing health. She moved back home to take care of Jacqueline who was working as a secretary in a funeral parlor. In her final days Jacqueline expressed her worry for the man who ran the parlor, who was not that much older than Solange. Jacqueline had grown to love him like another grandchild and worried what would become of him when she was gone. She begged Solange to promise to take over her job as secretary and watch out for Tristan just as she had. Solange promised fervently that she would and soon after Jacqueline passed away as well.
After the funeral service she finally brought herself to speak to Tristan about taking over as secretary. She wasn't keen on the idea at all. But she had promised her grandmother and she was grateful when Tristan eventually hired her. Now she spends her days constantly bickering with him and poking fun at him as well. It certainly makes the days at the funeral parlor more entertaining.
