So, a few days ago, I told Lori I would make a place where we could collect our favorite bits of RP dialogue and post. So. If your RP partner uses a turn of phrase that's totally catchy, hilarious, moving, or powerful, quote 'em here!

“Prove it,” the officer said, showering her with spittle. “Call him on that fancy phone of yours.”

“I would love to, officer, but my husband’s a very busy man. He had his socks on now and can’t take any calls.”

^ Gwen, perfectly summing up her relationship with Torben.

"Why?" Aryeh asked. "You didn't kill her, did you?" Getting weepy about Adrienne had a time and place. This afternoon was not the time, nor was Tiffany's the place.

"I'm just pulling your leg, boychick. Mazel tov to you and Ashton. May your home be filled with love and happiness and your loins abundantly fertile. If she says 'yes' first which I'm sure she will."

Reese absolutely loved Christmas. When she was younger her brother and sister used to tease her, saying that she was secretly an elf that had escaped Santa's workshop.

Nikolai grinned in return, tossing the rag over his shoulder. "That bad, huh," he said in a knowing voice, shaking his head. "In that case, God have mercy on him since it looks like no one else will."

^ Nikolai cracks me up. More than is probably healthy. I love his dark humor.

"Nice of you to buy...thanks," Wes said with a cordial nod. "Though somehow you don't seem the type to make a habit out of buying drinks for your performers." Wes coaxed his head and raised an eyebrow. "If you're trying to get me drunk, you should know up front, I don't swing that way mate."

Gwendoline thought about the flowerbox outside her bedroom window. Every day she looked at those asphodels; spoke to them, sang to them, nurtured them. They were very much alive, feeding off the remaining nutrients that her daughter provided-- the selfsame scant ones that Gwendoline gave to her. But the budding and blooming asphodels always reminded Gwen (and Torben, too, she was sure) that there had once been life that they created together, though that life now lay dead in the dirt. Through four years of rain, drought, and bitter cold, the asphodels burgeoned and thrived. But two weeks ago, when Gwen woke up and crossed to her window with her usual good morning lullaby, she say that the glorious buds and flowers of the plant had all put fallen off, lost to the wintery chill and January frost. She fell to her knees, and having heard the thud, Torben and Gabriel came running. ‘They’re dead!’ she exclaimed, clutching the hole that seemed to form in her gut. ‘The asphodels, Torben! They’re dead.’

There are zillions others for me, but I wanted to give a wide array of types of quotes. Some of these, I can parrot back to you, the way most people chirp Mean Girls quotes; others just blow my mind with their masterfulness. I'll post more as I remember some other favorites. What pieces of writing stick out to you?

Hee hee! I love threads like this! Here are a few of my personal favorite quotes. It's hard to make choices though! Everybody is so talented!!

Santiago Ortiz had the prettiest girl in Paris with him tonight—one of his best friends—and was strangely serene about being her friend and nothing more. He cared about her too much to love her; needed her too much to want her.

^ This just sums up his feelings so well and I adore it!!

Just f*cking with you, boy, Santiago thought again. Seeing how long it takes before you crack.

^ This is just awesome characterization!

He would make this Reese a meal. Anorexia meant she was hungry and Bill was a fabulous cook.

^ This just makes me grin every time.

Amorette smiled appreciatively when Wes put out the cigarette. She didn't like it when he smoked. It smelled awful, and it was bad for him. She kissed his cheek again in thanks.

^ There is just something so cute about this imagery. Like she's trying to curb his habits by using kisses as rewards.

“Tell me, Mr. Harlow, isn’t there somewhere you need to be now? Rehearsal? Costume room? Rehab?” Bill asked, blurring the lines between what was socially acceptable and what wasn’t.

^ Haha! Got to love Bill's bluntness.

“I’ll pay for this,” he told the cashier, knowing full well that he was already paying for it with the return of his migraine and the rising heat in his cheeks. But as Solange made her way back to the checkout line with new sports drinks in tow, Tristan couldn’t help but smile. Maybe it was worth the price.

Tristan couldn’t help but think that it wasn’t so bad. He didn’t mind being creepy with her.

That came out wrong, he thought, thankful he didn’t say it out loud.

“Well, there’s no one I’d rather be creepy with,” he said out loud.

^ This made me laugh so much! ^_^

“I see that, Damien, thank you,” said Bill. “Pray tell me why you neglected to tell me until now. And where the hell is my couch?”

“Sorry I thought kittens would be a nice surprise after everything you’ve been through this month,” Damien said, drawing himself up straighter. “And your couch was picked up for donation two days ago. I thought “placenta residue” clashed with the walls.”

^Damien. Always has an eye for aesthetics.

Tom looked over at the boy, who was also writing in a book. Dickens. It was emblazoned on the cover. Tom shook his head and for once, his jaunty smile faded.

“Bloody hell!” he said, rather loudly so that several people looked their way. “What do you think you’re doing to that poor book?”

^Even though we're starting this plot over, I just really love this.

“Do you need help, senorita?” he asked, mostly in English. “I couldn’t help noticing you have an audio tour stuck in your skull.”

^Santiago. Always the charmer

"I knew there was a reason I didn't like churches...too stuffy. Makes my allergies act up."

^ This gave me a fantastic visual of the church and of Wes's opionions of them as he tried to cover the fact that he's crying.

It almost hurt Victorine to look at her. If she stared long enough, she could see Bill’s face in hers. Their eyebrows had the same angle, their eyes had the same shape. If she listened hard enough, she could hear him, too. Same dialect, same suave. They stood the same way, with postures that radiated confidence. Victorine got that feeling in her stomach—like butterflies, only not the kind she got when an audience roared after she danced, whenever Bill smiled at her, whenever his lips met hers. These butterflies more so resembled moths.

^When planning this scene, it never occurred to me that seeing Bill's sister would be painful to Victorine because she can see Bill in her. Love it.

Rowan took a deep breath. "I wasn't trying to kill you....Well, I was." That sounded bad, think, think. "But-but, I thought you were trying to attack me! I didn't know it was just someone else who was lost, let alone the future Prime Minister of England." He shook his head, "I'm terribly sorry."

^ Katy's not here to see that I quoted her, but this always makes me laugh anyways. Every. Time.

Round Two!!

Solange looked at him sharply, pointing a finger in his face as she shook her head. "No! Don't you even act like there was no warning! I've been telling you for weeks now it hasn't sounded right," she told him. "Of course I should have figured you wouldn't ever listen to me..."

^ The exact moment I knew Lori-as-Solange was a perfect match.

“Christ!” Damien shouted for probably the seventh or eighth time. “I haven’t even had one yet!”

“Here’s an idea,” Bill offered sarcastically. “Why don’t you try taking the mask off to drink the beer?”

But both he and Damien knew that wasn’t an option. Halloween spirit was so abysmally low throughout Paris, that the only place with even a hint of Halloween morale was the catacombs. And those hardly counted. They were always there and for reasons other than 31 October.

^Bill's sense of humor strikes again!

"I'm sorry. I can't hear you over all of the color you're wearing now, Devi."

^Solange/One-Liners: My OTP. Don't tell Tristan that... I love it when Lori's writing gets super snappy like that.

"They're awfully quiet today," he said, flicking a surprisingly swift, agile piece of popcorn into the cage at the slumbering animal. "So are you, come to think of it. Don't tell me I have to throw food at you, too."

^Aryeh is the best old guy I know. Your argument is invalid.

She nodded, following him back to the main road they had been walking down before they came across the mural. She took one last glance back at it, trying to remember it because she knew it would be gone soon. As she did she had the oddest thought....

Caleb had never done anything like this for her.
