Dear RW Members,
Happy holidays! In the spirit of the season, we have made a few New Year’s resolutions for RW in 2013. Our proposed goals for the coming year are as follows:
- Increased activity from current and future members
- Membership Expansion
- More efficient organization in the coming months and years
In the past year and a half since Rouge Writers was born, we have seen members sign up for our lovely site… never to be heard from again. This is heartbreaking to me as both an admin and roleplayer. RW was created with the hope that we could foster and maintain a sense of community between writers. I still cling to that hope and I know many of you do, as well. In order to address the problems our community has faced, changes will be made to the structure of RW.
First—and most noticeably—we are seeking to change the background of the main page. I am currently in talks with graphic designers about making the site more aesthetically pleasing. Expect the possible addition of a chatbox to the main page as well. You may also notice minor changes being made to the wording of the rules and the addition of new sections to the website.
More importantly, however, are the changes we have planned for the internal structure of the website and its community. At present, there is no limit on how many characters a roleplayer may have. While we have no plans to cap the number of characters an individual writer may have, new procedures will be implemented in regards to characters and character profiles. We will have mandatory character applications for new characters beginning this January. Current characters will be grandfathered into the site. However, any characters created as of January 17, 2013 must be sent to either me or Marissa (Lets_Eat_Paste) for approval. Members may only apply for one character at a time and may only apply every thirty days. This rule is being created in anticipation for website expansion.
Again, current characters will be grandfathered in. However, if you have not contacted either Marissa or me by January 17, 2013, OR been active by that date, your character(s) will be placed in the archives. Likewise, AIs will be taken off of reserve if you have not contacted us by these dates or made an effort to be an active member of the website. After January 17, 2013 AIs will only be allowed to be reserved for up to 6 months. After 6 months, you must renew your reservation. This rule is also being put in place to accommodate a larger community’s needs.
We do not seek to create official and mandatory activity checks. However, because there is no requirement or incentive to check in, we feel that time limits are necessary to keep the site from growing stagnant. To show our commitment to this idea, Marissa and I plan to send a bi-monthly newsletter via email to all registered members. These newsletters will include site updates and changes, reminders, and information regarding special events. We also plan to advertise for RW through Proboards and other social media.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Have a wonderful holiday season,
Deanna
