Torrential rains pummel Paris and flood the streets. Thunder, louder than God’s revolver, rattles windows and shakes the ground. Lightning rents the sky and crackles through the air, long after the flash is gone. It’s the storm of the century.

Rolling black-outs strike Paris. For once, the city of lights is totally dark. 

Blackout

First of all, thank you to everyone who voted in our poll! The popular vote went to a weather-based disaster event – the Blackout! 

Here are the FACTS:

- Paris is experiencing rolling blackouts, which means that power outages across the city begin at 8 PM on the in-character date of April 28th, 2013. It will take a half hour for the whole city to go dark. By 8:30 PM in character, your characters must have no power. 

- The weathermen did not predict the blackouts. No one was told to stock up on any kind of supplies ahead of time. Use what you have on hand. 

- Sunset in Paris in April is around 9 PM. It will be getting dark!

- Power will return sometime on the in-character date of April 29th, 2013. Power will return gradually.

- The Event account WILL shake things up at least once in everyone’s thread. 

Here are the RULES:

- You may have as many of your characters as you wish participating in blackout threads. However, each character may only be in ONE blackout thread apiece. 

- Blackout threads can be open or closed. Please note which you are doing!

- Please title your thread Blackout and tag whoever you are playing with in the title. (EX: Blackout (Santiago) ). 

- When you have created your thread, please post a link to it in this thread, so I can create a directory here. 

- The “Event” Account serves as a crazy-random-happenstance device and may throw a wrench or two into your blackout scene. It cannot kill your characters, impregnate them, have them abducted by aliens, or otherwise permanently alter their lives, but it can shake things up. Maybe your character finds spare batteries because of it. Maybe your character trips over something in the dark because of it. Maybe there’s a strange noise coming from outside.

- The "Event" account can only interject up to TWO times and it can do so at any time. Everyone will receive at least ONE Event post per scene. Marissa and I will do our best to divide up who is doing which Event posts (IE: I cannot do my own Event posts; Marissa can’t do her own Event posts. If you have any suggestions for events for a scene we do together, PM it to the Event account!). This hopefully will maintain some surprise. 

- The Blackout begins on the out of character date of April 27th. Your threads can continue for as many OOC days as you’d like, however, no new blackout threads can be made after May 31st. Any blackout threads made after May 31st are isolated creations, unrelated to the event.
